MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – As protests calling for change in Cuba continue to occur throughout South Florida, especially in Miami-Dade County, the Cuban government has made an unprecedented announcement to allow donations of humanitarian aid to the island. The communist nation recently announced that now all plane passengers will be allowed to bring unlimited supplies of food, medicine, and hygiene products to the country between now and the end of the year and shipping is available, directly to individuals and families. This change comes nearly three weeks after unprecedented protests broke out nationwide, spurred by frustrations with dire economic conditions and curbs on civil freedoms.
The project’s co-founder, Martha Bueno, launched a donation and supply drive to help coordinate efforts now that more options are available to transport goods. Your donations will help cover the cost of goods, shipping, and transportation. For more information about the initiative, please visit: people4cuba.com
All funds raised will be collected by People for Liberty, on behalf of Libertarios Hispanos, and then will be used to purchase the supplies necessary, put together supply packages, and then ship directly to the families who have been vetted and approved to receive those goods. This way, we can do our best to ensure the items are not stolen or received by those other than the intended recipients. We are not currently accepting new nominations for families & individuals to receive support but sign up for the People for Liberty newsletter for announcements, including a link we will share when we have the capacity to accept new families.
